The Ottawa, Ohio, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Sheila Vorst, whose passing has left family, friends, and countless members of the local performing arts and school communities grieving. Remembered for her unwavering faith, compassionate spirit, and dedication to her children, Sheila’s death comes after years of unimaginable hardship for the Vorst family and has prompted an outpouring of love and support from those whose lives she touched.
Sheila was known as a devoted mother, loyal friend, and active volunteer who always placed others before herself. Her warmth, encouraging words, and infectious smile made her a cherished presence wherever she went, whether supporting her children’s activities or lending a helping hand at community events.
The Performing Arts Center of Putnam County shared a heartfelt tribute honoring Sheila and the lasting impact she made on the organization’s family.
“The Vorst family has been part of our PAC family since almost the very beginning,” the statement read. It reflected on the loss of Sheila’s husband, Craig Vorst, who passed away unexpectedly in 2022, remembering him as a dedicated “dance dad” who was always there for his daughters. The tribute went on to describe Sheila as “full of life, smiles, the kindest heart, and always encouraging words,” adding that she was uplifting, inspiring, and deeply rooted in her faith.
The organization also expressed special concern for the Vorst children, noting that young Ella carries so much of both of her parents within her and asking the community to continue surrounding the family with prayers, strength, and support.
Natalie Vorst shared the profound heartbreak the family is experiencing, writing that after losing their father in 2022, Sheila’s four children are now facing the unimaginable loss of their mother as well.
“No child should have to endure this kind of loss, especially twice in such a short time,” she wrote. Natalie explained that donations raised by family and friends will help provide for the children’s immediate and future needs as they begin this difficult new chapter. She also expressed heartfelt gratitude for every prayer, message, donation, and act of kindness shown to the family.
The OG Titan Band Boosters also honored Sheila’s memory, describing her as a wonderful supporter of the organization who was always willing to help. The group encouraged the community to keep the Vorst family in their thoughts and prayers while continuing to support the children through an ongoing fundraising effort.
As the Ottawa community comes together during this time of profound sorrow, many are remembering Sheila Vorst not only for her generosity and servant’s heart but for the love she poured into her family and everyone around her. Her legacy of compassion, faith, and selflessness will continue to live on through her children, her community, and the countless lives she touched.
